UL Environment Validates Claims on Rigid Bumper Made of 95 Percent Post-Consumer Recycled Content
Boston Retail Utilizes Recycled Plastic for EcoRigid Plus+ Impact Protection Bumper
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- UL Environment announced today that Boston Retail's ecoRigid Plus+ bumper models 1000 and 2000 have earned UL Environment Environmental Claims Validation (ECV) for incorporating a minimum of 95 percent post-consumer recycled content. EcoRigid Plus+ utilizes thermoplastic discarded by consumers to comprise the base, ends and corners of a bumper intended to reduce damage and minimize maintenance and replacement costs of equipment, fixtures and entranceways.
"UL Environment is proud to be the independent third party trusted to test and certify the environmental claims of a product designed to protect users and maintain the value of capital investments," said Steve Wenc, president of UL Environment, Inc. "Increasing demand for sustainability has created opportunities for companies to leverage environmental product attributes for market advantage, and third-party validation is a key part of that."
UL Environment applies a rigorous, independent process to the testing and auditing of environmental claims and allows manufacturers that successfully pass the tests to apply the UL Environment ECV service logo on product packaging and marketing materials.
"Boston Retail is committed to developing environmentally-preferable products for multiple markets and industries," said Russell Rubin, director of Boston Retail. "EcoRigid Plus+ supports several sustainable building and purchasing guidelines around the globe, and the credibility of UL Environment's validation helps us showcase our value as a more sustainable alternative for rigid bumpers."
EcoRigid Plus+ is used in retail, commercial and industrial applications to protect capital equipment such as registers, kiosks and refrigeration cases and building components and fixtures, including walls.
