HOUSTON, June 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The University of Houston Law Center is hosting a "power networking event" in partnership with the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) on June 14, featuring alumna, TV commentator and host, bestselling author, and businesswoman Star Jones.
The two-hour event will provide opportunities to meet successful, professional women in a variety of fields and discuss career strategies.
Jones '86, president of NAPW, is a former New York City prosecutor, TV journalist and one of the original co-hosts of ABC's "The View." Jones is also president of the Professional Diversity Network (NASDAQ: IPDN). NAPW is an exclusive network for professional women to interact, exchange ideas, advance their knowledge and empower each other. With more than 850,000 members and over 200 local chapters, NAPW members have diverse backgrounds, beliefs, perspectives and lifestyles with one common bond – their ability to succeed.
"NAPW offers a networking community both online and in-person where professional women connect with others, develop personally and professionally, and promote themselves and their businesses. Our Power Networking Events are designed to spark debate, to start a dialogue, and to place emphasis on the power of networking for professional women in the year 2016," said Jones.
As a part of the program, Jones will conduct one-on-one interviews with Sondra Tennessee, UHLC associate dean for student affairs, and Victoria Ai Linh Bryant, Founder and President of Ambassadors Caregivers.
"NAPW is at the epicenter of enabling women's personal and business agendas, as well as giving them the ability to network like never before," said Jones.
"I am delighted that the Law Center will cohost the national networking event. Networking is very vital for the advancement of legal careers. I am glad that through our partnership with Ms. Jones we will be able to provide opportunities to the citizens of Houston," said UHLC Dean Leonard M. Baynes.
The NAPW Power Networking Event is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 in the University of Houston Alumni Association O'Quinn Great Hall, 3100 Cullen Blvd.
