IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --Today's human resources professionals are increasingly becoming required to fulfill more advanced functions within an organization's management. Professionals need to be able to understand the connection between human resource strategies and business results in order to be effective leaders. The University of California, Irvine Extension announced today a new Strategic Human Resources Leadership Specialized Studies Program that provides human resources (HR) professionals with an intensive examination of the scope of demands placed on HR leadership, and the marriage of strategic and tactical HR practices. Designed with current and prospective human resources managers and directors in mind, the program features five required courses for those who want to learn the critical concepts of human resources leadership, including HR department directors and managers, HR employee supervisors, senior staffing specialists and recruiters, office managers, and HR generalists seeking a move into a senior role. Registration for the program is now available.
"As organizations continue to become more complex, human resources professionals have taken bigger roles in business leadership," said Angela Jeantet, director of education and business programs at UC Irvine Extension. "Our specialized studies program offers professionals the opportunity to gain skills to become a successful leader and to develop strategies that provide positive outcomes for a business."
Strategic Human Resources Leadership Specialized Studies Program participants will learn how to identify strategies to drive success through human capital development and planning, drive results-oriented culture change leading to successful business outcomes, and heighten the role of human resources in strategic organizational leadership.
The five required courses offered include:
- "Linking HR Strategy to Business Success" – develops skills to enable professionals to demonstrate their knowledge of basic business concepts and how effective human resources programs and program management can support an organization's goals.
- "Organizational Design and Development" – emphasizes culture building and change management. Examines varying organizational cultures to help participants understand key concepts in practical organizational development and the planning of culture change efforts.
- "Human Capital Strategy: Beyond Workforce Planning" – focuses on the optimal deployment of human capital as a strategic lever of organization performance with topics such as the development of servant-leadership practices and the role of the HR leader in driving human capital strategy to organizational success.
- "HR Management Systems and Technologies" – introduces top trends and tools in the human resources technology field that will give participants ideas for adoption and integration of systems and technology practices.
- "Building a Talent Pipeline: From Identification to Succession" – explores methodologies and applications with which high-performers are coached to consider the vitality of their roles, understand the influence of their decisions, and then recognize ways their future employees will best respond to their leadership.
