SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Twistlock, the leading provider of cloud container security solutions, today released its new Guide to PCI Compliance for Containers, a detailed how-to guide for running containers in compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS). Designed for any organization that handles credit card data, the Guide to PCI Compliance for Containers specifically supports technical and compliance teams who work with containers in the cardholder data environment (CDE) in complement to Twistlock's container security solutions.
Twistlock also announced today that it has joined the PCI Security Standards Council as a new Participating Organization. Twistlock will work with the Council to achieve and improve payment data security worldwide through the ongoing development of the PCI Security Standards, including the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), PIN Transaction Security (PTS) requirements and the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS). As a Participating Organization, Twistlock joins a growing community of more than 700 organizations committed to improving payment security worldwide.
According to IDC, the total value of payments over mobile networks will reach nearly $4 trillion in 2020. Meanwhile, compromised credit cards and data breaches dominate headlines. Service providers and large merchants that initiate a large number of transactions, process payments, and/or store cardholder data to handle recurring payments and one-click checkout bear the burden of compliance audits. However, nearly 80 percent of businesses fail their interim PCI compliance assessment, leaving them vulnerable to cyber attacks, according to Verizon's 2015 PCI Compliance Report.
"The number of credit card data breaches that happen regularly is astronomical, yet merchants who accept credit cards and service providers who transmit cardholder data have a responsibility to keep this data safe," said John Morello, chief technology officer, at Twistlock. "As container adoption continues its upward trajectory, we have capitalized on the need for CDE guidance on how to run containers in a manner that's compliant with PCI requirements. Twistlock is committed not only to educating the market, but also to innovating with security solutions that assist technical and compliance teams to achieve and maintain PCI compliance as they work securely and efficiently with containers in the CDE."
For each relevant requirement in the PCI DSS, the guide describes the applicable Twistlock feature or technology, shows how it can be configured to satisfy the requirement and provides links to the official documentation for more detailed information. Twistlock delivers container security for every stage of the DevOps workflow – with seamless CI integration, extensive API support, and dev-to-production security controls that deliver consistent policies across the container lifecycle.
The Guide to PCI Compliance for Containers is available now and can be accessed at zero cost by users who have a Twistlock subscription. For more information, and to sign up for the Twistlock Developer Edition, go to www.twistlock.com.
