Twelfth Annual College Colors Day Encourages Fans to Kick Off the 2016 Football Season Sporting Their True Colors
ATLANTA, Aug. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The time has arrived once again for college sports fans to show their school pride on College Colors Day.
College Colors Day is an annual celebration of school spirit and a call for fans to show off the colors they'll wear all season long. Created by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), a division of IMG, this year's College Colors Day celebration will take place on Friday, September 2. CLC represents the trademark licensing programs of nearly 200 collegiate institutions, and this year it's asking all sports fans to celebrate their fandom by wearing gear from their favorite college or university.
As thousands of organizations, retailers, classrooms and millions of individuals spread school spirit, those that visit CollegeColorsDay.com will be able to create a custom avatar and register to win an all-expenses-paid trip to the pinnacle of college football competition. Three lucky fans from across the country will attend the College Football Playoff National Championship in Tampa, Florida. Tickets to the game will be provided by College Football Playoff and Extra Yard for Teachers, the College Football Playoff's primary charity partner that empowers and honors teachers that help student-athletes across the country realize their dream of attending college.
"The arrival of the college football season always brings excitement and is one of many reasons to highlight why you're such a fan of your school," said Nicole Armentrout, Senior Director of Brand Development at The Collegiate Licensing Company. "It's a great opportunity for fans young and old to own their true colors whether you're on campus, in the office, at home, heading to the game or simply around town. We love College Colors Day, and are looking forward to celebrating for the twelfth year."
On College Colors Day, fans are encouraged to share images of themselves in their school's gear using #CollegeColors across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for a chance to win brand new gear for the season. Fans can even visit their school's official Facebook athletic page to add a custom College Colors Day frame to their profile photo, letting friends and family know which school they cheer for.
