TUCSON, Ariz., Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Tucson's urban street festival, 2nd Saturdays, kicks off fall and Tucson's holiday scene Saturday, November 13 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Downtown Tucson. Now in its seventh month, 2nd Saturdays has become Tucson's most popular outdoor event, drawing crowds of over 10,000 people for food, music, merchant specials and street entertainment. From the Hotel Congress on the east end of downtown to the Fox Theatre on the west end, Congress Street comes alive with vendors, street performers, an outdoor stage and a vibrant children's area in the Indian Village Trading Post lot. Scott Avenue will be closed again at Broadway featuring popular local bands for free.

This month the Fox Theatre will feature Nils Lofgren, guitarist for Bruce Springsteen and lifelong member of the E Street band. Ticket prices range from $15 to $75. Heavy metal phenomenon GWAR will appear at the Rialto with tickets priced at $23. The rest of 2nd Saturdays events are free and many merchants, clubs and restaurants will be offering special discounts to 2nd Saturday patrons.
Appearing on the free Scott Stage are Silverbell, The Railbirdz and Michael P's Big Band. The 2nd Saturdays Scott Avenue Stage has become Tucson's most popular outdoor venue for previewing popular as well as up and coming local acts.
The Indian Village Trading Post lot will again feature a walk up outdoor movie, a rock band video contest and bungee jumping, along with a picnic area for patrons tired of strolling the event.
Janos Wilder's new restaurant, Downtown Kitchen + Cocktails, on Sixth Avenue south of Broadway will be open for the first time offering live music, 2nd Saturday discounts and a late night happy hour. New customer service representatives will be positioned around downtown to help people find parking, avoid tow away zones and identify scheduled events.
Downtown Tucson has become a little boom town of construction with the new Unisource headquarters, the Providence Corporation remodeled block, the restored Roy Place Building (last used as a Walgreen's), along with the openings of Janos Downtown Kitchen + Cocktails, Scott and Co lounge, Empire Pizza, a new (yet opened) Monkey Burger, The Titanic Exhibit, developing lofts and restaurants on the east end, a new multi use development at Toole and Broadway and a new Thai restaurant on the west end.
