Triumph Higher Education Group Offers Free Online Culinary Demonstrations To High Schools Across The Nation
Interactive Demonstrations Provide Resource for Teachers and Revolutionize Culinary Education for Aspiring Chefs through Innovative Technology
CHICAGO, Jan. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Triumph Higher Education Group (www.triumpheducation.com), a company dedicated to elevating the quality and experience of vocational educational programs both on-site and online, is providing free online culinary demonstrations to high school classes through interactive webinars. As part of Triumph's student outreach program through educational organizations such as ProStart® and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc. (FCCLA), students can gain culinary insight and interact with an industry expert during normal school hours. Conducted by Triumph's Vice President of Academics and Executive Chef Mark Dowling, demonstrations include topics such as Basic Knife Skills, Mother Sauces, Egg Cookery, and Chocolate Work. Dowling oversees curriculum content for Triumph's culinary schools, Auguste Escoffier Schools of Culinary Arts located in Austin, Texas and Boulder, Colorado, and the newly launched Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy, the first-ever online culinary school, offering professional culinary, baking and pastry training for aspiring chefs.
Thousands of students from coast to coast including states such as Texas, California, Washington, Kansas, Minnesota, Colorado, New Jersey, West Virginia, Massachusetts, and Florida participate in the weekly demonstrations. "Not only do students benefit from the demonstrations, but teachers enjoy the rich new content in their classrooms," said Wendy Johnston, Director of Admissions for Auguste Escoffier Schools of Culinary Arts.
In addition to offering weekly online culinary demonstrations, the Escoffier team is creating online tutorials to aid teachers in continuing education. Select scholarships are also being provided for teachers to the Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy.
"We enjoy helping students reach their culinary dreams. Today's students are sophisticated and we're dedicated to using innovative technology to provide them with the best culinary education available; something we believe would make the 'Father of Modern Cuisine' Auguste Escoffier proud," said Johnston.
Auguste Escoffier is internationally recognized as perhaps the most famous chef in history and the source of much modern cooking methods, recipes and standards. As influential and relevant today as he was a century ago, Escoffier not only taught many famous chefs who themselves went on to train the likes of Julia Child and others, but his cooking methods and recipes continue to influence chefs today. His famous book, Le Guide Culinaire, has been called the "bible that codified French cuisine," and the brigade system he created is still the standard operating structure for commercial kitchens across the world.
