Tradition Bank Prepares to "Sock It To 'Em" with Houston Marine Moms
HOUSTON, Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tradition Bank is pleased to be partnering with the Houston Marine Moms Club for their annual "Sock It To 'Em" promotion. The drive provides Marines overseas with new socks out of the generosity of their Houston family, friends, and community back home.
Tina Gorcie, President of the Houston Marine Moms, stresses how much the drive means to the group's sons and daughters stationed abroad. "We have many active troops who are still deployed who need our support," said Gorcie. Marines on the front lines can expect to go through as many as seven to ten pairs of socks per day due to low hygiene conditions in the areas they serve. Socks are also not provided by the U.S. Marine Corps with the rest of a soldier's uniform.
To participate in the drive, simply bring a pair or more, of new, black, crew cut socks to any of Tradition Bank's seven area locations. Suggested brands for the socks include Hanes, Starter, and Champion. Houston Marine Moms request that nylon socks, such as dress socks, should not be donated. Tradition Bank is proud to support all Marines who serve and protect us, and is pleased to offer this unique way to give back to their community.
