TrackingPoint Precision Guided Firearms Win Guns and Ammo Contest For "America's Coolest Gun"
AUSTIN, Texas, May 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied technology company TrackingPoint, inventor of advanced Precision Guided Firearm (PGF) technology, is pleased to announce that it has won Guns and Ammo Magazine's annual G&A Madness.
The popularity contest, which this year tallied more than 5 million votes from gun enthusiasts around the country, pits guns against one another in an NCAA-style tournament bracket, with four different categories – rifles, handguns, modern sporting rifles, and shotguns. Each gun competes one-on-one in its own category before proceeding to the championship round. This year saw competitors from Barrett, Sig Sauer, Wilson Combat, Remington and many more.
Winnowed down from an initial field of 64 entries, the final four featured one gun from each of the four categories: from handguns, the Colt M45A1 CQBP; from modern sporting rifles, the Arsenal SAM-75F; from shotguns, the Wilson Combat Scattergun; and from rifles, TrackingPoint.
TrackingPoint's PGF won in the final showdown with the Arsenal SAM-75F in a landslide, with more than 3.2 million votes, or 84% of the vote.
TrackingPoint CEO John Lupher said, "At TrackingPoint, we are proud to not just make products that expand upon the future possibilities of firearms, but also products that excite consumers and gun owners everywhere. We appreciate Guns and Ammo including us in their contest, and all of the readers who supported us. Your excitement about TrackingPoint precision guided firearms motivates everyone here to continue innovating the next generation of hunting and shooting technology."
TrackingPoint's PGF technology utilizes an onboard ballistics computer, a corrected aim point, and a bevy of sensors to enable even novice shooters to accurately engage targets out to 1,200 yards. In addition, the system's built in Wi-Fi and ShotView streaming video mobile app let shooters share their experience with others in real time with a smartphone or tablet. The PGF's networked tracking scope also records each shot with video and audio that can be downloaded to an iPhone or Android device for sharing via social media like Facebook and Twitter or SMS and email. The systems are currently available in bolt action platforms starting at $9,995 in .300 Win Mag, 308 Winchester, 7mm Remington Magnum and .338 Lapua, and semi-automatic platforms starting at $9,995 in 5.56 NATO, 7.62 NATO and 300 AAC Blackout.
