Track to Track, SYLVANIA SilverStar® ULTRA Headlights Brighten the Roads for NASCAR's Hauler Crews
SYLVANIA Automotive Lighting Encourages Hauler Safety with Headlight Initiative
LOUDON, N.H., Sept. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- From early February to late November, NASCAR drivers race to entertain an estimated 75 million fans a year, but off the track, team haulers are the stars of the open road. According to USA Today, every season hauler drivers log about 70,000 miles transporting cars, crews and parts across the country.

As the title sponsor of the SYLVANIA 300 for the 10th consecutive year, OSRAM SYLVANIA knows the importance of safeguarding hauler teams on the road. Through SYLVANIA Automotive Lighting's "Hauler Headlights for Safer Nights" initiative, NASCAR haulers are provided with SYLVANIA SilverStar® ULTRA headlights – offering hauler drivers a higher level of visibility and safety during nighttime driving.
"We are honored to help NASCAR keep safety a top priority for their teams and vehicles with SYLVANIA SilverStar ULTRA headlights," said Joe Verbanic, marketing manager, SYLVANIA Automotive Lighting. "High-performance headlight bulbs with whiter, brighter light improve downroad and sideroad visibility, which can make all the difference between a close call and an accident."
The third annual "Hauler Headlights for Safer Nights" initiative kicked off in July with the Lenox race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway and will come full circle with the SYLVANIA 300 on Sunday, September 23.
With 20 different states in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, navigating a hauler from track to track is more than a full-time job. Many drivers spend the majority of their time behind the wheel after dark or in the early morning, making good visibility essential. According to AAA, the hours between midnight and 4 a.m. have the highest number of fatalities based on the number of people on the road, adding to the importance of hauler headlight safety.
"Maintaining the safety of all our drivers and teams both at the track and on the road is always our first concern, and we are proud to partner with SYLVANIA Automotive Lighting on this initiative," said Robin Pemberton, vice president for competition, NASCAR. "The performance of SYLVANIA SilverStar ULTRA Headlights gives the hauler drivers the assurance they need to safely deliver the cars and equipment to their race teams week after week."
SYLVANIA SilverStar ULTRA headlights can provide up to 50 percent greater brightness, which equates to as much as 50 to 100 feet more visibility at night. The addition of whiter, brighter headlights can drastically increase a driver's ability to react to distractions or hazards on the road by providing them with the ultimate in downroad and sideroad visibility.
The SYLVANIA 300 has historically been one of the highest-rated NASCAR events on national television and routinely draws crowds of more than 100,000 to NHMS, the only superspeedway in the six-state New England region and the largest sporting facility in the region.
