Tough Mudder Adds CLIF Builder's® as Official Protein Bar of the 2011 Tough Mudder Event Series
BROOKLYN, N.Y., April 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tough Mudder, Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet, announced today that CLIF Builder's®, the high protein bar from CLIF Bar & Company, will be the official protein bar for all 2011 Tough Mudder events.
As part of the partnership, CLIF will provide financial support and over 100,000 full-size CLIF Builder's for distribution at the remaining 2011 Tough Mudder events. CLIF Builder's have 20 grams of quality soy and nut protein, providing participants with the natural energy and nutrients essential for completing and recovering from Tough Mudder events.
"Tough Mudder is one of the toughest one-day challenges on the planet and appeals to the adventure seeker in all of us," said Jenny Kaplan, brand manager for CLIF Builder's. "Being able to feed participants with CLIF Builder's ensures them a sports nutrition food for energy to finish these events and healthy muscle recovery post race. We know how important food and nutrition is to boost physical and mental confidence during sport and endurance events."
"It is essential that we align ourselves with the proper partners that our participants can appreciate and identify with," said Tough Mudder CEO and co-founder Will Dean. "CLIF Builder's are a category leader in protein and this partnership illustrates our dedication to providing our thrill seekers with the best products on the market."
Founded in 2009, Tough Mudder is the nation's fastest-growing and most-recognized endurance series with 10 remaining tour stops in 2011. Unlike other traditional endurance events or mud runs, Tough Mudder events are constructed by British Special Forces to offer a 10-12-mile trail-running experience like no other. Located outside of major metropolitan cities, courses are based on rugged terrain, featuring steep inclines and water hazards and highlighted by 18-25 military-style obstacles testing one's fitness, strength, stamina, mental grit, teamwork and toughness.
With a unique crossover appeal for high-performing endurance athletes, fitness enthusiasts, risk-taking adrenaline junkies and conservative commoners alike, Tough Mudder events were created to test individual limits in a one-day challenge that showcases the core characteristics of will, intensity, camaraderie and teamwork. Tough Mudder events are not timed and are won by all those capable of completing the course.
In 2010, Tough Mudder participants raised over $700,000 in support of its official charity partner, the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization aimed at helping American servicemen and servicewomen who have been severely injured in combat. The company's goal is to raise over $2 million in 2011.
