HOUSTON, Jan. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The 6th annual Topsides, Platforms & Hulls Conference and Exhibition is proud to announce Sheila Moore, Associate Director Analyst, IHS Capital Costs Research Group, as the 2016 Keynote Speaker. Moore will deliver the keynote presentation entitled "Realignment Of Upstream Cost In An Environment Of Oversupply" on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 during the Opening Plenary Session of the Topsides, Platforms & Hulls Conference & Exhibition.
Since 2011 the sharp rise in oil prices was accompanied by a surge in upstream activity. This in turn led to an accelerated rise in cost, with many projects experiencing massive cost overruns. With the drop in oil prices, costs have dropped and will remain low. There is an expectation that project costs will continue to decrease. Moore's keynote presentation will highlight key changes in upstream markets and review lessons learned from past drops in oil price to predict the movements into the future. Moore will provide a macro view of the current economy and its impact on the offshore sector of the industry.
Moore is Associate Director Analyst IHS' Capital Costs Research Group. Moore has been with IHS for six years supporting various groups within the Cost and Strategic Sourcing group. As an Upstream Cost expert she specializes in cost-estimating research for upstream projects, focusing primarily on the vessels, offshore rigs, and yards and fabrication markets. She assists in the management and development of the cost database for QUE$TOR, a cost engineering tool based on conceptual studies, budgetary cost estimates, and feasibility studies. Prior to joining IHS, Moore was with United Space Alliance, where she worked as a space shuttle instructor and a member of the Orion Flight Operations Integration Team. As a shuttle instructor she trained astronauts on the operation of the environmental, electrical, and hydraulic systems of the Space Shuttle. In the Orion Flight Operations Integration Team, she monitored and implemented changes to the engineering requirements for the Orion spacecraft.
Moore holds a Master of Science degree in Bioengineering from Rice University. Her graduate work focused on examining the biochemical make-up of articular cartilage and developing an artificial tissue replacement. Moore also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from Syracuse University.
