To TransMedia Group, an Investor Who Panics and Sells Stock at a Loss When Volatility Soars Is a 'Vixtim'
BOCA RATON, Fla., Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TransMedia Group (www.transmediagroup.com) doesn't mince words, but melds them into intriguing new hybrid terms like "vixtim," "tagitaph" and "gymnasty."
The PR firm then reserves them as sort of "dot.com brides in waiting for the right suitors to come along," according to TransMedia's scrabbly headmaster and CEO Tom Madden.
The firm prides itself on coining words like 'vixtim' from the volatility index 'VIX' and 'victim;' 'tagitaph' from 'Microsoft Tag' and 'epitaph' for more informative headstones, and "GymnastyTV," a name it conjured up for a realty series featuring client LA School of Gymnastics.
Among other labels and monikers for which the firm has reserved dot.coms are "eyerase" and "eyeraser," which it calls perfect names for a product that erases dark circles from under the eyes.
Then there are more practical dot.coms it's saving for the right occasion like "floodbeater," "roofpreserver" and even "VivaFloridaFootball," the latter to coincide with the state's 500th Birthday Celebration in 2013 themed "Viva Florida."
Madden, author of books with engaging titles "SpinMan" and "King of the Condo," loves wordplay and coins many product names for clients as well as for his own inventions. One he dubbed "Knife and Forklift," for his combo of dumbbells and utensils he calls "training wheels for overeaters," allowing one to exercise while eating (www.knifeandforklift.com).
Other dutiful dot.coms waiting in TransMedia's witty wings are "WallStreetMinute," "WinningInAmerica" "WheezyWayOut," "HairGourmet," "GreenieAward," "DomainlyYours," "MomAndShop," "FatPlates" and "CharlieSheenRestaurant," which Madden thought would be a cool, winning handle for a chain of effervescent eateries "where goddesses wait on you."
Believing there should be a new name to denote ones website ranking, Madden coined "SQ," a derivative of IQ, and reserved www.searchquotient.com and "WhatsMySQ.com."
What's in a name, you dare ask a wordsmith? According to Madden, "Everything!" But unfortunately it's taken. "How about 'everyding' for an auto body shop?"
