Timeless Family Story LITTLE WOMEN Launches Theatrically Friday, Sept. 28
Lea Thompson Leads Cast as Classic Literary Work Celebrates 150 Years
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- LITTLE WOMEN, the anticipated modern-day adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's timeless classic, opens this Friday in 600 theaters nationwide from Pinnacle Peak, who is managing the marketing and distribution for the film. LITTLE WOMEN is a celebration of the female voice and the bond of sisterhood. Clare Niederpruem makes her directorial debut on the film; the story was adapted by Niederpruem and Kristi Shimek. Lea Thompson (BACK TO THE FUTURE), who stars as "Marmee," has been promoting the film through national media, including an upcoming appearance on NBC's "TODAY" with Kathie Lee and Hoda on Wednesday, September 26th; other major media planned for launch week includes Hallmark's "Home & Family," HLN's "Morning Express with Robin Meade," and multi-market satellite radio and TV tours.
A global shoe company, IMPO International, is a major sponsor of LITTLE WOMEN.
"IMPO International celebrates LITTLE WOMEN and the journey of women everywhere," said Jim Maloney, IMPO's Vice President of Marketing, and Global Production. "It was clear to us that Pinnacle Peak's interpretation of LITTLE WOMEN represents the transcendence of today's young women in their coming of age experience. We saw a wholesome family movie that is both forward thinking, and caring about what matters most today to mothers and daughters. We felt a unique synergy with this film. IMPO seeks to offer something more than just trend leading fashion, we are driven to deliver improved fit and comfort with our shoes. We want women everywhere to feel as comfortable, confident and individual in their shoes as they feel in their own skin."
Maclain Nelson produced the film with Main Dog Productions (Kristi Shimek, Steve Shimek and David Wulf), in association with Marybeth Sprows, Chris Donahue and Paulist Productions.
Pinnacle Peak is also partnering with the Parents Television Council, who provided their seal of approval for the film, on special pre-release theater events for local premieres. Additionally, Pinnacle Peak created opportunities for school field trips, girls' night out events, and organizational events, in theaters the week of release. Their school program includes seven educational ideas that tie in both the film and also the classic novel, for a Dream Together campaign to support students in achieving their goals. Additionally, their organizational programs include great resources tied to the film, including an online portal for individuals to create vision boards, inspired by the sisters' castles in the air portrayed in the film.
Along with Thompson, LITTLE WOMEN stars Sarah Davenport as "Jo," Melanie Stone as "Meg," Taylor Murphy as "Amy," Allie Jennings as "Beth," Ian Bohen (Teen Wolf) as "Freddy," Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical, "Family Guy") as "Laurie," and Bart Johnson (High School Musical) as "Papa March."
Synopsis:
On the 150th anniversary of the beloved classic (published in 1868), a modern retelling of LITTLE WOMEN dares a new generation to dream with their mothers, sisters and friends. From girls playing in the attic to women living with purpose, the March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy—are committed to always supporting each other. Yet growing up sometimes means growing apart.
An aspiring writer, Jo leaves for New York determined to publish a novel, but her editor challenges her to write about something more interesting—her family. When tragedy brings the sisters back home, sticking together takes on new meaning. As Jo comforts her sick sister, Beth asks for one thing: a story.
Jo knows the perfect one … by heart.
