Thornburg Announces Christopher Ryon, Municipal Bond Portfolio Manager, to Retire

-Mr. Ryon's retirement is part of a thoughtful succession plan

SANTA FE, N.M., March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Thornburg Investment Management ("Thornburg"), a global investment firm with $41 billion in assets under management¹, today announced that after a career spanning over three decades in the investment industry and over 10 years at Thornburg, Christopher Ryon, 63, portfolio manager and managing director on Thornburg's municipal bond strategies, will retire on December 31, 2019. Nicholos Venditti and David Ashley, portfolio managers and managing directors, will continue to co-manage the firm's municipal bond strategies.

As part of Thornburg's long-term succession plan, Mr. Ryon will remain a member of the municipal bond team until his retirement. He will continue to work closely with Messrs. Venditti and Ashley, along with the rest of the team, to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Ryon and Mr. Venditti have worked closely together for the past nine years. Mr. Venditti joined Thornburg in 2010 as a fixed income research analyst and was promoted to associate portfolio manager in 2011 before becoming a portfolio manager and managing director in 2015. Mr. Ashley started at Thornburg in 2011 as an associate portfolio manager and was promoted to managing director in 2018 and named portfolio manager in 2019. Together, Messrs. Ryon, Venditti, and Ashley co-manage Thornburg's seven municipal bond mutual funds and separately managed accounts. They are supported by three dedicated fixed income analysts – Sam Snelling, Suhada Thanikkatt, and Todd Wax – and, consistent with Thornburg's collaborative culture, resources from the entire Thornburg investment team.

The municipal bond team oversees approximately $10 billion² in assets for institutions and financial advisors.
