This Summer, EatWith Reveals The Uncharted Territories Of The World's Home-Restaurants!
SAN FRANCISCO, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer,EatWith, the world's first platform for home-restaurants, is opening the doors to San Francisco's most delicious homes. San Francisco will be joining more than 90 cities around the globe that now share their authentic cuisines on the EatWith platform.
EatWith is the best way to truly discover a travel destination and it now invites world-travelers to connect with locals through home-cooked meals, or to quote a recent British customer who was visiting Barcelona: "EatWith is a wonderful way to step into a city!".
The story of EatWith began one memorable evening in 2010 when EatWith co-founder and CEO Guy Michlin was vacationing in Crete: "After 4 days of falling into every possible tourist trap, we managed to get an invitation to dine with a local family. That experience turned out to be the highlight of our trip: the authentic local food, the chance to speak with locals and peek into a different culture – turned it all into an unforgettable evening." Michlin recognized that tourist traps are killing the travel experience because they lack the authenticity and personal touch that travelers crave for on their quest for discovery - whether in remote destinations abroad or in their own city.
EatWith was born as a passion project between two close friends, to create an alternative way for travelers to discover the world. "When I returned home I did some research and quickly found out that there is no platform that enables this kind of home dining experience in a trusted and accessible way, so that's what we set out to do." Since then, EatWith hosts have served thousands of meals in over 90 cities around the world. "It is enlightening for me to take part in creating a global community of enthusiastic hosts who are helping us change the way people eat and travel. We want to share the value of home restaurant experiences with people all over the world," says Guy Michlin.
Until now, there were only two dining options: eat at home or eat at a restaurant. EatWith has created a third dining category - the home restaurant - and it is set to drastically change the way people eat, travel and make new connections.
Step Into A City
While food plays an important role in EatWith events, it's really all about the people who connect travelers to the local scene. At the end of each event, the guests receive a card with the host's must-do's in the city - tips that unlock the local secrets. Max and Rafa from New York will send you to an underground cocktail bar in Chinatown, while Monica in Barcelona will tell you about her favorite food market- known only to locals. So it is fair to say that an EatWith experience continues long after dessert.
