The Wellness Network and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses Join Forces to Educate Maternity Patients
NEW YORK, March 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wellness Network (TWN) and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) today announced a collaborative effort to improve health outcomes of women and newborns. This effort will create, distribute and promote educational content consistent with AWHONN guidelines and public service programming for childbearing families.
To launch this new initiative, TWN will air several new AWHONN public service announcements (PSAs) that raise awareness of AWHONN's evidence-based patient health education portal, Healthy Mom&Baby. Available online and as a quarterly print and digital magazine, Healthy Mom&Baby is a comprehensive consumer education program powered by obstetric and neonatal nurses.
Each year, 98% of all U.S. births occur in hospitals where AWHONN nurses are the clinical leaders and bedside caregivers for childbearing families. Healthy Mom&Baby PSAs will begin airing on TWN's Newborn Channel starting March 28th in more than 2,000 U.S. hospitals nationwide and online on demand at the Newborn Channel.
"Three out of five babies born in U.S. hospitals are delivered in a hospital where the Newborn Channel is available. We are pleased to help build awareness of AWHONN's considerable resources for new moms, who need all the help and support they can get before, during and after their hospital stay," noted Dave Ross, CEO of The Wellness Network.
"Through the expertise of nurses, AWHONN and the Wellness Network are providing trustworthy, highly effective and accurate patient information on women's and newborn health at the point of care, online and in communities throughout the U.S.," said AWHONN's CEO Lynn Erdman, MN, RN, FAAN.
