The Siegfried Group Welcomes New Professionals from the Houston and South Florida Markets for New Hire Orientation

WILMINGTON, Del., Nov. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Siegfried Group, LLP recently hosted new professionals from across the United States at the Renaissance Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland. The group learned more about the Firm's unique model, various departments and functions, and heard Robert L. Siegfried, Jr., CPA, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, speak about the Firm's higher purpose.

Siegfried's New Hire Orientation program is centered on introducing new professionals to the Firm's extraordinary culture. It is a great opportunity to meet members of Leadership, the Operations team and other fellow Professional Resources, while enjoying an exciting venue. The four-day program includes sessions on the Firm's structure, Siegfried's Client Service Delivery Model, Professional Resource expectations, as well as interactive presentations from all of the departments throughout the company. The orientation kicked off with a welcome reception at the Renaissance Hotel's Mt. Washington Room, and throughout orientation, the group was able to enjoy dinners at some of the finest restaurants in the area including Azumi and Oceanaire.

In the South Region, Siegfried is excited about Keyla George, Erin McCormac, Leigh Mischnick, Derrick Smith and Anthony Sousa joining the Firm.

Keyla George, CPA

Keyla is a Certified Public Accountant who joins the Houston Market as an Associate Manager. She comes to Siegfried from BDO and PwC, where she gained over ten years of audit experience in different industries such as insurance, real estate, retail and financial services. Keyla received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting with a minor in Economics from the University of Puerto Rico.

Keyla's commitment to client service, analytical skills and positive attitude towards work, combined with her appreciation of other team member ideas, makes her a great team player.. She also likes challenging situations and meeting new people. Keyla says, "I believe Siegfried will give me exposure to new exciting projects that will help me grow both personally and professionally."

In her free time, Keyla enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as going out for nice dinners. She also loves traveling and going on road trips. Since she recently moved from Puerto Rico to Houston, she really likes going around the city, visiting new places and meeting new people. Keyla plans to visit Puerto Rico at least once a year to visit her family, eat Puerto Rican food and go to the beach.

Erin McCormac

Erin joins the Houston Market as a Senior Associate. She comes to Siegfried from EY, where she gained three years of assurance experience on a wide array of public clients from the energy sector to the casino industry. She received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Finance from Duquesne University.

Erin's revolutionary thinking coupled with a strong sense of confidence keeps her goal oriented, allowing her to deliver exceptional client service. She continues to challenge conventional workflows striving to utilize the strengths within her teams, making her a distinctive player in the workplace. Erin says, "The opportunity to assist our clients with fresh and innovative solutions to generate bottom line value is the reason I joined The Siegfried Group."

In her free time, Erin enjoys traveling and finding new ways to stay active. Recently, she finished her first Tough Mudder run and looks forward to adventuring to new states around the U.S., competing in more challenging courses. She had the opportunity to study in Rome during her collegiate years and is eager to travel across the sea in the future. With a career at Siegfried she is looking forward to the new avenues of opportunity that await. 

Leigh A. Mischnick, CPA

Leigh is a Certified Public Accountant who joins the South Florida Market as a Senior Associate. She comes to Siegfried from Grant Thornton where she gained three years of audit experience with a primary focus in the construction and real estate industries, and also some experience in the financial services and not-for-profit industries. Leigh received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of South Florida.

Leigh is known to deliver meaningful and valuable contributions in the workplace by utilizing her strong communication skills, technical abilities and mental agility. She has the unique ability to lead her teams toward a common goal, while always reinforcing the bigger picture.  Leigh says, "The capability to rapidly grow in my professional career from varietal client experiences, along with the opportunity to get involved in business development activities, networking expansion and other Firm initiatives is why I wanted to be a part of Siegfried."

In her free time, Leigh enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and going out on the town with friends. She's an avid supporter of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and loves to travel back home to visit her family and catch at least one football game a year in Memorial Stadium. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, a nice glass of scotch, spontaneity, Mexican fast-food, wine tasting, and developing her Spanish-speaking skills as she works towards one of her lifetime goals of fluency.

Derrick Smith, CPA, CA

Derrick is a Chartered Professional Accountant who joins the Houston Market as a Senior Associate. He comes to Siegfried from Vancouver where he gained four years of audit experience with a primary focus in the mining industry. He received his Bachelor of Medical Sciences in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Western Ontario.

Derrick's ability to transition quickly to new work environments coupled with his ability to foster great team chemistry, sets him up for future success. Derrick says, "The opportunity to be exposed to such a diverse range of top clients in a fast paced, challenging environment is the primary reason why I wanted to be a part of Siegfried."

In his free time, Derrick stays active playing in beach volleyball leagues and enjoys getting out for a round of golf.  While living in Vancouver, the long winter months provided the perfect opportunity to hit the slopes and enjoy the abundance of ski resorts in British Columbia and Washington State. Having never set foot in Texas until his recent arrival, Derrick is excited to start exploring what the South has to offer. Weekend trips to cities such as Austin and New Orleans are on his short-term radar. 

Anthony Sousa, CPA, CA

Anthony is a Chartered Professional Accountant who joins the Houston Market as an Associate Manager. He comes to Siegfried with a strong background in auditing developed at PwC. Immediately before joining Siegfried, Anthony gained a year of industry experience while working at a technology company in Vancouver. Anthony's always positive attitude encourages all team members to feel supported, strive for high quality, and take pride in the team's successful contributions.

He approaches challenges with an open mindset but ensures no one gets left behind as demonstrated by his dedicated coaching. His commitment and passion for success are contagious. "I decided to join Siegfried for the variety of experiences and the chance to work with so many talented and dedicated individuals."

In his free time, Anthony stays active through exercise and travel. However, this is mostly to compensate for his love of trying new cuisines wherever he goes. He's also an avid scuba diver and tries to plan vacations around new and exotic dive sites. Just recently, he and his wife spent 10 days in the Maldives and were able to swim with sea turtles and whale sharks. He's not sure where his next adventure will take him but is excited for the challenge and chance to grow personally and professionally.
