The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Thanks State Senators Who Stood with Pennsylvania Working Families in Handily Defeating Paycheck Deception Amendments
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Rick Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder express their gratitude on behalf of all working families of Pennsylvania to those members of the State Senate who voted to defeat the right-to-work, for less amendments sponsored by State Senator Scott Wagner.
"These amendments were nothing more than an attack on Pennsylvania's middle class and on all hard-working Pennsylvanians who support a strong voice and a level playing field on the job and in Harrisburg. We express our thanks to those Senators who stood with Pennsylvania's working families, but most importantly, we wish to acknowledge the solidarity of the thousands of workers across Pennsylvania, who contacted their Senators asking them to oppose the Wagner Amendments," Mr. Bloomingdale said.
"No question, this is an important legislative victory for Pennsylvania's working families with just a few weeks before the voters go to the polls to elect candidates that support polices that expand our middle class. We should use this legislative vote to help guide our electoral vote on November 4. These unpopular and anti-worker amendments were nothing more than an attempt by out-of-state billionaires and their friends here in Harrisburg to turn back the clock on progress and fairness for all Pennsylvania citizens. We applaud the majority in the State Senate for standing up to the Koch Bros. and their billionaire friends and stating emphatically that no, we will not allow you to buy our government and put our state in a race to the bottom," Mr. Snyder stated.
