The Lanier Law Firm Representing Twin Peaks Software in California Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Red Hat Inc.
PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lanier Law Firm is announcing a patent infringement lawsuit filed on behalf of Freemont, Calif.-based Twin Peaks Software Inc. against Raleigh, N.C.-based Red Hat Inc. (NYSE: RHT) and its Sunnyvale, Calif.-based subsidiary Gluster Inc.
The lawsuit, filed Feb. 23, 2012, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges that Red Hat and Gluster are infringing Twin Peaks' U.S. Patent No. 7,418,439. The '439 patent covers a "Mirror File System" involved in the management of data on computer networks.
On August 26, 2008, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued the '439 patent to inventor John P. Wong, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Twin Peaks. Twin Peaks produces replication and clustering products using the Mirror File System to provide a multi-location, always-available model of computer data management that improves hardware utilization.
According to the lawsuit, Red Hat and Gluster have infringed the patent by making and selling infringing software products for managing data on computer networks.
