The International Culinary Center Expands Event Space and Service Offerings
Camilla Schmidt Appointed as Director of Catering and Events
NEW YORK, Feb. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Culinary Center, home of The French Culinary Institute and The Italian Culinary Academy, has announced the expansion of its New York event space and on-and-off-premise catering services, as well as the appointment of Camilla Schmidt as Director of Catering and Events.
Hosting exceptional custom-tailored events for over 25 years, in both the loft-like spaces at The International Culinary Center, as well L'Ecole - The Restaurant of The French Culinary Institute, The Catering and Events Division is poised to add additional event space when its fifth floor renovation is completed in May 2011. The new event space will provide additional state-of-the-art kitchens and other facilities allowing clients to host unique events including demos with internationally-renowned chefs; hands-on interactive classes with world-class faculty; cocktail receptions, wine tastings, as well as private dinners.
In addition to the Catering and Events team's vast on-site planning expertise, this newly expanded division will now have the capabilities to bring its seasoned event team, chefs, and cuisine to off-site venues, creating first-class events at a location of a client's choosing. As an additional enhancement to the new event space and new focus on off-site events, The International Culinary Center is tapping into its in-house talent to develop an expanded range of distinctive event menus and new recipes highlighting tastes and flavors from a variety of international cuisines.
To support this marked increase in offerings, The Catering and Events Division at The International Culinary Center has announced the appointment of Camilla Schmidt as Director of Catering and Events. Schmidt will lead the charge in strategic planning and development for the division in The International Culinary Center's New York and California locations as well as booking all on and off-site catering and events in New York. In New York, Michael Stiver will continue his role as Director of Event Operations utilizing his expertise to plan and execute unparalleled events.
With nearly 10 years of experience in the hospitality, catering and events industry, Schmidt recently served as Vice President of Sales and Corporate Events for DM Cuisine, working with clients including Christie's Auction House, Martha Stewart Omnimedia, Estee Lauder, and Macy's Culinary Council. Other positions included Banquet Manager and Private Dining for Aquavit in New York City, and Dining Room Manager at The Grand Hotel in her native country of Sweden. Schmidt holds an international marketing and sales degree from Salj & Marknadshogskolan, The Sales and Business School/Umea School of Business & Economics, University of Umea in Stockholm, Sweden.
