KINGSTON, N.Y., April 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mayor Steve Noble, Planning Director Suzanne Cahill, Fire Chief Mark Brown, Chief of Police Egidio F. Tinti along with staff members from police, fire, public safety and planning departments met yesterday at Kingston City Hall as well as at the Hutton Brickyards with Brickyards engineer Kevin McManus and Bardavon executive director Chris Silva to review the logistics of concerts at the Hutton Brickyards.
All aspects of the concerts were discussed including parking, traffic, shuttles, and noise, sanitation and neighborhood impacts. The Bardavon/Hutton concert logistics plan was very well received by city officials and was further clarified with a visit to the site. Further meetings are planned prior to the May 8th planning board meeting, where in collaboration with the City, final plans will be presented.
All city departments and the Hutton and Bardavon teams are committed to working together to make not only the Bob Dylan concerts a success, but to make any future events successful as well, and to mitigate any impact on the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
Last season's Smorgasburg saw large crowds easily moving in and out of the site with no significant adverse impacts after the unexpectedly large crowds on opening day. Day one of Smorgasburg at the Hutton Brickyards recorded nearly 10,000 individuals in attendance. In addition to no major negative impacts from last season, Smorgasburg had a positive impact on Rondout restaurants, which witnessed remarkably brisk business on the Smorgasburg evenings.
Karl Slovin of MWest Holdings, owner of the Hutton Brickyards, stated: "we are working diligently on all event planning alongside the city's public safety personnel to ensure the success of these exciting events in a beautifully renovated historic site."
