The First Tee of San Francisco Receives $5,000 Grant from PGA TOUR Superstore
Grant Supports Educational Programming Delivered through the Game of Golf
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- PGA TOUR Superstore has announced a $5,000 grant to The First Tee of San Francisco to deliver educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
The grant will be awarded Saturday, November 8, at the PGA TOUR Superstore located in East Palo Alto at 11:00 a.m. More than 20 of the students in The First Tee of San Francisco program will be in attendance for the check presentation.
"The First Tee of San Francisco makes a tremendous effort to inspire thousands of young people using golf as the platform," said PGA TOUR Superstore President and CEO Dick Sullivan. "PGA Tour Superstore appreciates the life skills and enrichment programming they provide to young people around the Bay Area."
The First Tee of San Francisco reaches over 10,000 youth each year, providing golf and life skills curriculum and equipment to every public elementary school in the city. After-school and weekend classes are also offered at four different locations.
PGA TOUR Superstore has 20 retail locations. The superstores are owned and operated by Golf & Tennis Pro Shop, Inc., whose controlling owner and chairman is Arthur M. Blank, retired Home Depot co-founder and owner of the Atlanta Falcons. Blank became a Trustee of The First Tee in January 2012, committing $1 million to the youth development organization.

Blank Family Foundation, PGA TOUR Superstore associates support The First Tee chapters reaching young people in East Palo Alto, Atlanta, Chicago, Paramus, Dallas, Delray Beach, Denver, Myrtle Beach, Naples, Phoenix, Westbury, Long Island, Irvine, California and Palm Desert, California. In addition to grants, PGA TOUR Superstore provides young people with access to state-of-the-art teaching, club fitting, golf lessons and skills training.
