NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Female Quotient, a company and community dedicated to achieving workplace equality, today announced that it will bring its pop-up activation, The FQ Equality Lounge, for the first time to NBA All-Star in Charlotte, N.C. in partnership with the NBA, Charlotte Hornets, Bank of America, Jordan Brand, SAP and American Express.
From Friday, February 15 to Sunday, February 17 at WeWork Stonewall Station, located in the heart of the NBA All-Star action, The FQ Equality Lounge will host panel conversations that feature elite athletes and executives from the worlds of professional sports, consumer goods and products, financial services, technology and more. Set against the backdrop of one of the world's biggest sporting events, the lounge will be filled with leaders, such as Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, JUMP.DC Senior Vice President Estee Portnoy and NBA Head of Referee Operations Michelle Johnson, who are elevating the equality conversation and pushing for real progress in the sports world and beyond.
"When you add women to any equation, the equation gets better," said Shelley Zalis, CEO of The Female Quotient. "We're hosting The FQ Equality Lounge at NBA All-Star because it's an amazing opportunity to bring visibility to women both on and off the court, encourage collaboration between change agents for greater impact, and to activate solutions for advancing parity."
Topics of discussion at The FQ Equality Lounge include: "Shooting for Greatness," "We're Better Together: How Men and Women Can Support Each Other," and "Lessons in Leadership: A Woman's Perspective," among others.
A highlight of the event is a discussion with NBA Legend Dominique Wilkins, WNBA Champion Kristi Toliver and former WNBA star Jennifer Azzi, who will speak to an audience of 12-to-14 year-old girls who are part of Her Time to Play, an initiative dedicated to inspiring the next generation of girls to play basketball and learn skills critical to success both on the court and in their everyday lives.
Additionally, former NBA player Jason Collins will participate on a panel about achieving belonging in business along with industry executives who are prioritizing diversity so that people from all backgrounds can bring their unique strengths to the table.
