The Conference Board Names New Managing Director of Human Capital
NEW YORK, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Rebecca Ray has been named Managing Director of Human Capital at The Conference Board, the global business membership and research organization.
Ray was previously Senior Vice President, Global Talent Management & Development for MasterCard Worldwide, where she was responsible for organizational learning, training, management and leadership development, employee engagement, performance management, executive assessment, coaching, organizational development, and succession planning. She also has held executive roles at Comcast, American Skandia, Prudential Securities, and Merrill Lynch, and an academic appointment at New York University. In addition, she led a consulting practice for many years, offering leadership assessment and development services to Fortune 500 companies.
"Rebecca has a wealth of experience in both the theory and the practice of Human Capital," said Jon Spector, CEO of The Conference Board. "Like The Conference Board itself, she represents a bridge between the research and the practitioners who must understand how to use that research to better serve their organizations."
"We have found exactly the right person to lead our global Human Capital program to the next level," said Bart van Ark, Senior Vice President, Chief Economist and Head of Research at The Conference Board.
"I am thrilled to join The Conference Board, and at the opportunity to build on its rich heritage, tap brilliant minds, partner with business leaders and practitioners, and contribute to the field of Human Capital," said Ray. "This is a particularly challenging time for global business. Corporate leaders are expected to set strategy amidst shifting political and legislative winds, and drive business results against the challenges of a global economy in crisis, all while serving as role models for corporate behavior and ethics. Helping leaders understand the ways they can build global talent and best utilize all aspects of Human Capital to achieve business and societal success will be a cornerstone of what we do."
Ray has been named Chief Learning Officer of the Year by Chief Learning Officer magazine, and one of the "Top 100 People in Leadership Development" by Warren Bennis' Leadership Excellence magazine. She serves on the Advisory Boards for New York University's Program in Higher Education/Business Education at The Steinhardt School of Education, and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton/GSE's Executive Program in Work-Based Learning Leadership. The author of two books and several plays, she holds a doctorate from New York University.
A longtime member of The Conference Board Learning, Development and Organizational Performance Council, Ray begins her new role on October 25, 2010.
The Conference Board Human Capital research and programming is grouped into five main focus areas: Strategic Workforce Planning, Talent Management, Evidence-Based HR, Diversity & Inclusion, and Workforce Readiness. In addition to published research, related products and services include peer-to-peer learning networks, conferences, webcasts, and experiential and other executive events.
