The event, "Creativity and the Caregiver—Giving a Voice to the Overlooked Consumer," will feature a short documentary created for Caregivers Speak Up, a new initiative by The Bloc. It will be followed by a discussion of the caregiver and how to communicate with them authentically in today's marketing landscape.
"The caregiver is a key member of a patient's healthcare team and a major influence on treatment decisions," said Elizabeth Elfenbein, Partner, Creative at The CementBloc. "Yet today's healthcare communications focus on the patient, the doctor, and the payer, with the caregiver's needs brushed aside. We wanted to think about the caregiver's situation a little differently, and communicate to them with a type of empathy more traditionally associated with patients."
"Four in 10 adults in the US are now caregivers, yet they often seem left out of the healthcare discussion," added Loreen Babcock, VP, Chief Marketing Officer at Montefiore. "We're delighted to share this panel with The Bloc to shine a well-deserved spotlight on this crucial stakeholder."
"Creativity and the Caregiver—Giving a Voice to the Overlooked Consumer" will take place on Friday, June 19, at 2:35 PM, at Foyer Theatre Debussy in Cannes.

Title: Creativity and the Caregiver – Giving a Voice to the Overlooked Consumer
Session description: 29% of American adults care for someone who is ill, disabled or aged – that's over 65 million in the US. On a global scale, it's many millions more. The caregiver is a key member of a patient's healthcare team and a major influence on treatment decisions – they're often the only person who sees the patient's journey from all sides (and the weight of this responsibility can put them at risk of major health issues themselves).
Yet today's healthcare communications focus on the patient, the doctor and the payer, with the caregiver's needs brushed aside. Our communications platforms are not complete if we are not paying close attention to the caregiver as well as the patient. So how do we use our creativity to support and give a voice to this group of people that the industry so often overlooks?
In this session we will showcase an industry-first social platform for this community that has a short film at its heart, featuring caregivers sharing their stories, fears, and triumphs. You'll leave this panel with a better understanding of the caregiver's impact — and our obligation to speak to them authentically.
Speakers: Loreen Babcock EVP, Chief Marketing Officer, Montefiore Hospital; Elizabeth Elfenbein Partner, Creative, The CementBloc
