The British International School of New York: An Inspector Calls...
NEW YORK, April 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Spring 2012 is proving significant for The British International School of New York on a number of counts. Just last week the school received the final report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate in relation to the inspection that was undertaken this past March.
This report reflects the findings of a four day independent inspection, and the culmination of five years of dedicated work to ensure the outstanding quality of education for all children at The British International School of New York.
The following quote under the heading of "The Success of the School, Main Findings" gives a sense of the tone of the report: "The school is highly successful in meeting its ambitious aims to provide an education for pupils to inspire and stimulate a love of learning, within an international community. Standards of achievement are excellent, and pupils have outstanding speaking, listening and literacy skills for their age."
The full report can be accessed at BIS-NY's website www.bis-ny.org or via the ISI website here.
Founder Andrea Greystoke reflected on the report: "I am delighted by this excellent inspection report for BIS-NY. It is following in the footsteps of its older sister, Abercorn London, which is celebrating its 25th successful year in 2012."
This June will also mark the month that the school will graduate students for the first time. Opening just six years ago, with forty four students, The British International School of New York now has a student body of two hundred and sixty, a class of whom will graduate this summer.
What makes this class particularly noteworthy is the prestigious list of New York City schools that the class of 2012 has received offers from, including world class private schools such as Horace Mann, Gifted and Talented programs such as NEST+m, and from the highly competitive selective schools such as Bronx High School of Science and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts.
These acceptances reflect a worthy achievement by any standard, but from a graduating class it is clear evidence that The British International School of New York has arrived in Manhattan and made its mark.
