LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Claremont Lincoln University (CLU) in partnership with The Academy for Jewish Religion California (AJRCA) will bring together interfaith leaders and activists for a panel discussion on how individuals and organizations can contribute to the cultivation of welcoming communities.
This free event, entitled "The Art of Peacemaking", will be held on Sunday, November 10 at Hillel at UCLA. Guest panelists will share personal stories, sage advice and ways to take action and to get involved with organizations in attendance. Panelists will include: Keith Burton, Ph.D., from the Center for Adventist-Muslim Relations at Oakwood University and CLU, Rabbi Susan Goldberg from Nefesh, Rabbi Mel Gottlieb, Ph.D. from both AJRCA and CLU, Tasneem Farah Noor from NewGround, and Father Alexei Smith from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
"Through this event, we hope to examine how faith communities can promote inclusivity, tolerance and respect for diversity," said Melissa Puls, CLU Vice President for University Advancement. "By joining forces, we believe we can take greater social action to promote peace and justice for people of various faiths and spiritual convictions."
"Our event aims to introduce the plethora of interfaith organizations currently working together to heal injustice, to view how they are helping people to find success through vocational training and increased opportunity," said Rabbi Mel Gottlieb. "You will see how their interaction also develops new friendships and increased faith through their fulfilling work. We hope that attendees will learn from their successes and wish to join in accelerating this important work in their communities. We believe that if you wish for Light, Be the Light!"
Directly following the panel discussion, there will be a Q&A session and opportunities to network with Claremont Lincoln University as well as the organizations AJRCA, Bend the Arc, ILM Foundation, and NewGround. To register to attend, please visit the Event page.
