BRYN MAWR, Pa., Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American College of Financial Services has announced that General Peter Pace will be the 2017 Soldier-Citizen Award recipient. Pace, a highly decorated, retired Marine Corps veteran and 16th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will receive the award during a ceremony on August 24 at The College's fourth annual veterans networking and fundraising event, "The Clambake," at Normandy Farm in Blue Bell, Pa.

"He perfectly embodies what this award celebrates: sacrifice, success and service. General Pace was sworn in as 16th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Sept. 30, 2005. In this capacity, he served as the principal military advisor to the President, the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council. Prior to becoming Chairman, he served four years as Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. General Pace holds the distinction of being the first Marine to have served in either of these positions.
In June 2008, General Pace was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor a President can bestow. He also served as chairman of the board for Wall Street Warfighters Foundation, an organization that provides training support and job placement services for veterans interested in careers in the financial services industry. He is currently on the board of Academy Securities, as well as the board of the Armed Forces Benefit Association.
The Soldier-Citizen Award was established in 2014 to recognize extraordinary individuals who have served honorably in the United States military, have achieved success in the financial services profession, and have selflessly given back to society and their community.
