Deadline to enter this unique event that emulates the TV show is September 9th!
CARNEGIE, Pa., Aug. 31, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Salvation Army's 7th Annual Most Amazing Race, presented this year by UnitedHealthcare, will take place on Saturday, September 12th. If you're a fan of the TV show The Amazing Race, love an adventure, or just want to have a great time, this is the event for you. And the best part is, in addition to vying for part of a $5,000 prize purse, you'll be helping less fortunate kids throughout Allegheny County at the same time. But hurry, you and your partner have to register and qualify by September 9th at www.mostamazingrace.org.
Teams of two compete, following clues to various locations throughout the city. At each location they have to successfully complete a challenge in order to receive the clue to the next check point. Some of the challenges are physical, some mental, and some are just fun and crazy! Only the top 50 fundraising teams of two people will be accepted into the race, so securing a spot is determined by how well a team fundraises against another. A minimum of $250 per team is required to qualify. The more funds that are raised for The Salvation Army, the more advantages teams will have in the event. A total prize purse of $5,000 will be awarded to the top five finishing teams. The first place team will cash in on $2,500 sponsored by PNC Bank. The top five teams that raise the most money will also be rewarded with valuable prize packages, including tickets to sporting and cultural events, restaurant and retail gift cards, hotel packages, and more.
"The increased demand for youth programs provided by The Salvation Army has been astounding over the past several years. Funds generated through The Most Amazing Race allow us to provide programs that give hope to thousands of local children," said Major Thomas Lyle, General Secretary and Allegheny County Coordinator, The Salvation Army's Western PA Division.
"This event would not be possible without the generous support of Presenting Sponsor UnitedHealthcare and our other Corporate Sponsors including Home Depot; MSA; and PNC Bank," said Donna Fencik, The Salvation Army's Director of Marketing & Public Relations. "We're also very grateful to Pittsburgh Public Market for welcoming us to Pittsburgh's Strip District for the start and finish of this year's race, and to the numerous businesses throughout the city that are cooperating with us as challenge locations. It's going to be a great time!"
