The 2017 Best Workplaces for Parents: Committed at Work and at Home
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Great Place to Work and FORTUNE have published their 2017 list of the Best Workplaces for Parents, along with broader research exploring the experience of mothers and fathers on the job.
Great Place to Work analyzed more than 440,000 surveys from employees assessing their organizations' camaraderie, fairness, leadership, advancement opportunities and other elements of a great workplace. The ranking also considered parents' experiences compared to their colleagues without children, and workplace benefits that support family life.
Research across all companies surveyed by Great Place to Work found mothers and fathers were more committed to their work than non-parents. Co-workers with children at home were more likely to plan a long-term future with their employers, feel their jobs make an impact and find their work meaningful. Parents also reported more frequent concerns about office politics and the fairness of promotions. Despite its prominence in programs aimed at parents, work-life balance ranked in the lowest quartile of retention factors for employees with children.
