#TGIF. TGI Fridays Now Accepting Orders Via Twitter
Football fans who Tweet a football emoji at @TGIFridays on Sunday will receive a carryout appetizer for a penny
DALLAS, Jan. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Forget that a picture's worth a thousand words. This Sunday, one emoji is worth a thousand times more… appetizers for a penny from TGI Fridays.
Just in time for the Big Game, the busiest day of the year for both Twitter and restaurant carryout, Fridays is now accepting orders via Twitter. To celebrate, Fridays is offering an appetizer for a penny to anyone who simply Tweets a football emoji at @TGIFridays on Sunday, February 5. Talk about a win-win coin toss.
(If there was an emoji for potato skins, nachos, wings, ribs, quesadillas, spinach queso dip, pan-seared pot stickers or mozzarella sticks, we'd insert it here. But there's not, so we'll continue with the traditional press release.)
The Twitter ordering functionality is powered in partnership with Conversable, whose chatbot technology allows TGI Fridays to chat one-on-one with guests about nearby restaurant locations, ordering takeout and more. TGI Fridays, with more than 500 restaurants across the country, is the first national bar and grill to accept carryout orders via Twitter.
"Our digital offerings allow us to give the same personalized service to guests online as we would in the restaurant or across the Fridays bar," said Sherif Mityas, vice president, strategy and brand initiatives at TGI Fridays. "Being the first national bar and grill to accept orders on Twitter is just the beginning of how guests will see us cater to their needs using technology."
"When one of America's most-loved brands like TGI Fridays adopts chatbot technology, it's obvious where the future of the restaurant industry is headed," said Ben Lamm, CEO of Conversable. "We're proud to help Fridays go where its guests are, whether they're watching the Big Game from home on Sunday or looking for nearby happy hour specials."
Every year, the Big Game – that shall not be named – sees a spike in Twitter activity. In 2016, it was the most Tweeted TV event of the year with 27 million Tweets globally about the event. Now if only we could all take the day off on Monday…then it would really feel like Friday.
