"In just a few weeks, there will be new attacks on students' religious liberty from the ACLU, like-minded secularlists and separationists, liberal judges and misinformed school and government officials," said Kelly Shackelford, President and CEO of Liberty Institute. "The Angela Project is designed to empower students to know and protect their First Amendment Rights."
The Angela Project provides "Know Your Religious Rights" kits to students and their parents across America to stop the systematic persecution of students of faith by first educating all involved — students, parents, teachers, principals, superintendents and school boards — as to what the law actually allows regarding the free exercise of religion. More information concerning the Angela Project may be found at www.libertyinstitute.org/knowyourrights.
Last year Liberty Institute defended high school valedictorian Angela Hildenbrand who a federal judge told that she could not pray during her graduation speech — or risk imprisonment if she did. Liberty Institute rushed to Angela's defense and the U.S. Court of Appeals overruled the judge's ruling — a huge victory for Angela and for all students across the nation who wish to honor God publicly.
