Texas Instruments and PolyCore Software collaborate to ease application deployment for multicore systems
SILICON VALLEY, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- MULTICORE EXPO -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) and PolyCore Software, Inc. (PSI), the leader in multicore communications software solutions, today announced that PSI's development tools and runtime software will support TI's multicore digital signal processors (DSPs). Working together, these products are expected to simplify the deployment of multicore applications in the market and promote the Multicore Communications API (MCAPI) standard. MCAPI provides an industry standard, platform agnostic API for multicore systems communication.
PSI's tools enable developers to migrate their existing applications from a single core to multicore architecture as well as design, program, and manage application deployment in multicore systems to achieve optimal use of TI's multicore processing platform. Using TI's multicore DSPs, designers can now employ PSI tools to optimize their applications across multiple cores by quickly implementing different scenarios, such as balancing the load among the cores. Designers will also experience an ease in code generation through PSI's modeling tools which validates the topology and produces programming elements. PSI's Poly-Platform™ and TI's Code Composer Studio (CCS) are both based on the Eclipse open source software development framework, providing a synergistic, developer friendly environment.
"Simplification, scalability and reuse are key factors in successfully migrating multicore applications across a range of platforms," said Sven Brehmer, president and CEO, PolyCore Software. "Poly-Platform and MCAPI provide a tools-assisted, standardized and scalable multicore programming model for TI's DSPs. We are excited to offer this platform together with TI, enabling developers to rapidly take full advantage of TI's current and future multicore processors."
"Our primary goal for development tools is to enable developers to take advantage of TI's multicore SoC architecture to realize full entitlement of multicore technology, while leveraging open standards like MCAPI," said Frank Fruth, director of multicore and multimedia engineering, TI. "We are confident that our collaboration with PSI is an important step towards achieving this goal. Through the efforts of TI and PSI, developers will more easily manage the migration to multicore deployment and achieve optimal application performance."
