Tencent Adds a Wide Selection of Disney Live-action and Animated Features to its Leading Online Movie Service
"Hollywood VIP" Customers Now Have Access to an Extensive Catalogue of New and Classic Movies from Disney, Marvel and Pixar.
SHENZHEN, China, Sept. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tencent, China's leading online communications, social and entertainment services company, today announced that it has collaborated with Disney Media Distribution to bring some of the Studio's most popular live-action and animated features to "Hollywood VIP," a leading online movie service in China.
A growing number of Hollywood studios including Lionsgate, Miramax, Universal, and Warner Bros. already offer movies through "Hollywood VIP."

With this collaboration, "Hollywood VIP" (URL: film.qq.com) will now feature movies from the blockbuster Disney stable which includes: Marvel Studios, home of "The Avengers," one of the China's top 3 foreign films of 2012; Pixar Studios, home to Academy Award-winning titles such as "Toy Story 3" and "UP;" and Walt Disney Studios titles, such as the record-breaking franchise "Pirates of the Caribbean."
"Hollywood VIP" subscribers have on-demand access to an extensive selection of new and classic films, with newer titles available the same day they are released on Blu-ray and DVD. In addition to the monthly subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service, "Hollywood VIP" customers can purchase newly released movies such as "Oblivion," "Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall," "We're the Millers" or "The Conjuring," on a transactional basis (TVOD), just two weeks after their U.S. theatrical release. Dozens of domestic Chinese movies are also available on the service, just one to two months after their local theatrical release dates, such as "The Blind Detective." All in, more than 1,500 movies (SVOD and TVOD combined) will now be available through the online service, many of them exclusively to "Hollywood VIP."
