TeleTracking Teams With The Joint Commission To Offer A Patient Safety Webinar Series
PITTSBURGH, May 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Joint Commission will discuss challenging aspects of patient safety this summer in a new webinar series sponsored by TeleTracking Technologies, Inc.
The first webinar, "Understanding Quality & Safety Issues related to Clinical Information Systems," (June 9, 2015, 11 AM EST) will address emerging information about quality and safety issues arising from the electronic health record, including a discussion of sentinel events related to health information technology that were reported between 2010 and 2013, including medication errors, wrong-site surgeries, treatment delays and preventing suicide.
The second, "Alarm Safety: Preparing for National Patient Safety Guideline (NPSG) Compliance in 2016," (July 9, 2015, 11 AM EST), deals with alarm fatigue, a top health technology hazard in hospitals that caused 80 fatalities among 98 alarm events reported between 2009 and 2012. Examples of health systems approaches to improving alarm safety will be described.
Lastly, "Ambulatory Care: An Emerging Arena for Quality & Safety Issues," (Aug. 19, 2015, 11 AM EST), will discuss similarities and differences between safety issues in acute care and ambulatory care settings, where more care is being delivered and the infrastructure may not be as robust.
The live, 60-minute webinars will help participants to better understand safety problems relating to healthcare's changing landscape and learn strategies to avoid them.
Faculty includes Joint Commission executive Ann Scott Blouin, RN, PhD, FACHE, and former Joint Commission executive Nanne M. Finis, RN, MS, Vice President of TeleTracking Consulting Services.
