(TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology will incorporate the Hughes HX VSAT system in its TCS HX Enabled Secure Satellite Network. "We are pleased to work with TCS on the TCS HX Enabled Secure Satellite Network," said Rick Lober, vice president and general manager of the Defense and Intelligence Systems Division. "The Network will provide transmission security (TRANSEC) with higher data rates and greater flexibility and bandwidth efficiency than anything currently on the market."
The TCS HX Enabled Secure Satellite Network will support voice, data, and video communications. Ideal implementations for the Network include Command and Control (C2) operations and Intelligence/Surveillance/Reconnaissance (ISR) transport, as well as to provide Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) capabilities for warfighters deployed in combat and peacekeeping missions.
"This arrangement is 'win-win-win,'" said Michael Bristol, senior vice president and general manager of government solutions for TCS. "Hughes wins by gaining the ability to take advantage of expanded coverage into Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America; TCS wins by now having the ability to offer our customers better bandwidth efficiencies and TRANSEC capabilities; and our current and potential customers win by having access to more throughput on less capacity, which will translate into significant savings for them."
The TCS HX Enabled Secure Satellite Network has an anticipated launch of early 2012. The service will be available on the General Services Administration (GSA) IT Schedule 70.
