Note Taking for the Digital Age
Tegrity Notes enables students to type their own class notes directly into Tegrity using their computer or tablet device. Students may add bookmarks with a single click – either during a live lecture or while reviewing a recording – and easily retrieve important class moments at a later date. While an instructor is projecting something of importance on screen, students can click to instantly "grab" the image and place it into their Tegrity Notes, and annotate this image with their own comments or visuals. Tegrity Notes span an entire course, and can be exported to standard document formats such as Microsoft Office Word or Adobe PDF.
A powerful study tool, Tegrity Notes transports note taking to the digital age, bringing students instantly to a specific class moment while studying. This feature establishes a powerful learning pathway between what the student wrote, and what happened in class – making the learning process incredibly efficient.
Fully Automated Closed Captioning
A major accessibility enhancement available to institutions using Tegrity includes new web-based support for popular third party transcription services. In combination with a simple workflow for approvals within the institution, Tegrity now automates the process of adding closed captioning to lecture recordings. A feature developed to assist institutions in complying with Section 508, hearing-impaired students will now have easier access to captioning in their recorded lectures.
Industry's Most Powerful Search Technology Gets Further Boost
Tegrity's patent-pending Search Anything™ technology – the most powerful search capability in the lecture capture industry – is now further enhanced for students' benefit. Search Anything automatically captures metadata across almost any application during recordings – which, for most other solutions is limited to PowerPoint or Keynote – and students now have the option to search for key words or phrases both course-wide and across all of their enrolled courses at once. This latest enhancement is especially helpful in certain disciplines where concepts are often repeated from course to course.
Enhanced Mobility
With Tegrity Mobile Applications, students can access and interact with class recordings through their mobile devices. In addition to an iPod Touch/iPhone and iPad App, Tegrity is now introducing an Android App as part of its latest feature update. Students are now able to stream and search content, as well as set bookmarks on both iOS- and Android-based devices. In further expanding students' mobile studying abilities, Tegrity Notes will be supported on the iPad App beginning in August.
"With these latest enhancements to our lecture capture service, we strive to deliver a student-centric solution that improves academic success through intelligent and intuitive tools that truly impact learning," said Isaac Segal, president of Tegrity. "Tegrity has a rich and well-documented history of firsts, and this update shows that we are committed to continued innovation in order to provide technology that is transparent for instructors, and is invaluable to students," he added.
Additional features included in Tegrity's latest update include faster lecture uploads, the ability to import multimedia content from the web or from other lecture capture solutions, expanded browser support (Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 4 and Google Chrome) and more.
