SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Taylor Morrison, a leading national homebuilder and developer, today announced the appointment of President and CEO Sheryl Palmer to HomeAid America's National Board of Directors and Executive Committee. HomeAid America, a national non-profit, works with the local building industry to build and renovate multi-unit shelters for homeless families and individuals in 17 markets and 12 states across the country.
Palmer's appointment serves as the perfect complement to the already strong relationship Taylor Morrison has developed with HomeAid. Several Taylor Morrison divisions throughout the U.S. partner with HomeAid to build and refurbish a wide range of housing options for local homeless residents. One division specifically pledged $50 per home closing for the entire 2016 fiscal year to one of HomeAid's local chapters.
"Partnering with builders of housing for the homeless intensifies our ability to reduce homelessness and improve the quality of life for individuals and families across the nation," said Palmer. "Taylor Morrison's team members are passionate about giving back to the communities in which we build, and we hope to help HomeAid expand their local chapters' presence into more markets where we operate."
HomeAid America relies on the generosity of America's builders, their trade partners, financial institutions, and the public, making alliances like the one Taylor Morrison and HomeAid have formed so critical. It is through these partnerships that HomeAid is able to build and donate shelters to charities that not only understand the needs of their local homeless population, but also provide the social services necessary for the homeless to attain self-sufficiency and acquire longer-term housing.
"The value a building industry leader such as Sheryl Palmer brings to HomeAid America cannot be overstated," said Scott Stowell, executive chairman of the board, HomeAid America. "We are thrilled to expand our affiliation with Taylor Morrison and their 100-year legacy of building communities, and we look forward to Sheryl's leadership and Taylor Morrison's trusted reputation as we continue to address the homelessness crisis in our nation."
