TCS Sponsors the Boston Marathon for Third Consecutive Year
MUMBAI, India, April 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS) a leading IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, today announced that it is the official technology partner of the Boston Athletic Association and the 2012 Boston Marathon to be held on Monday, April 16, 2012. The agreement features a strong presence by TCS at the marathon and the three day John Hancock Sports and Fitness Expo held at the Seaport World Trade Center.
TCS has partnered with the Boston Marathon to sponsor and enhance the information kiosks and tables frequented by marathon runners and spectators throughout the race weekend. This year, TCS will field 18 runners, including TCS employees, clients and the company's CEO.
"At TCS, we embrace the qualities running a marathon entails – commitment, passion and drive – and endeavor to uphold these principles in how we run our business," said N. Chandrasekaran, CEO and MD, TCS. "We are proud to be a 2012 sponsor of the Boston Marathon and to support the many thousands of runners who have made a personal commitment to excellence."
TCS is also the exclusive information technology sponsor of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (October 7, 2012) and the official technology partner of the ING New York Marathon (November 4, 2012). This is the third year that TCS will participate in all three major U.S. marathons.
As part of these sponsorships, TCS will actively engage in increasing awareness of diabetes, a major health issue in the US, India and many other countries around the world. At the Boston Marathon, TCS will be offering cowbells in exchange for $1 donations to raise money for the American Diabetes Association, which is leading the fight to stop diabetes.
"Giving back to local communities and contributing to the greater good of society is a core value at TCS," said Surya Kant, President of TCS' North America, UK and Europe business. "TCS' support of the Boston Marathon and continued efforts to raise money for the American Diabetes Association is a reflection of our commitment to wellness and our investment in society."
