tarte cosmetics to Partner with the Tyler Clementi Foundation For Anti-Cyberbullying Campaign
NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- tarte cosmetics is expanding its anti-cyberbullying initiative #kissandmakeup by partnering with the Tyler Clementi Foundation (https://tylerclementi.org/), an organization dedicated to ending bullying in schools, workplaces and faith communities, both online and off. The Clementi family created the foundation following the death of Tyler, who took his own life at the age of 18 after being the victim of cyberbullying.
In honor of National Kiss and Makeup Day on August 25, tarte is promoting kindness on social media and invites the Instagram community to show its commitment to positivity with a selfie campaign.
"I am grateful to tarte cosmetics for elevating this conversation and helping the Tyler Clementi Foundation continue to raise awareness of the pain and harm caused when social media is used as a weapon to inflict hurt and destruction on the lives of so many people, including my son Tyler Clementi," said Jane Clementi. "Rather, let's remember the Golden Rule and use the digital world for the good that it was intended for: to increase communication and keep people connected. Always use it to build others up and give support and show empathy to others. Your words do matter, and they will make a difference in someone's life. Let them be used for good."
"tarte's social media presence has shown me how many hurtful and mean comments are out there and how alarmingly frequent they can be," said CEO and founder of tarte, Maureen Kelly. "A few kind words have the ability to transform lives, and by normalizing compassion instead of cruelty, I hope we can make the internet a more beautiful place." She went on, "We are honored to partner with the Tyler Clementi Foundation to promote such an important message."
To amplify this powerful statement against cyberbullying, tarte aims to boost its fans' participation in the social media campaign by awarding one lucky participant with a lifetime supply of tarte cosmetics.
