This year's Ben's Beginners™ Cooking Contest aims to help children develop the crucial life skill of cooking in a fun and family-friendly way and make the kitchen a welcoming place for the entire family. On Friday, Sept. 25 in New York City's Meatpacking District at 18 9th Ave., the UNCLE BEN'S® Brand and Tamera Mowry-Housley will celebrate this year's Ben's Beginners™ Cooking Contest with tips and tricks for parents on how to invite their kids into the kitchen to cook with them. Families are invited to explore the "Dream Kitchen," designed with the help of kids themselves, and learn cooking-related skills from noon until 7 p.m., in addition to seeing Tamera Mowry-Housley during her appearance from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.
From now until 11:59 a.m. EDT on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, U.S. parents with children in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade can submit a three-minute or less home video on unclebens.com of their family preparing a rice-based dish while explaining their experience cooking together. Entrants in the Ben's Beginners™ Cooking Contest will rally their community's support for a chance to win one of five grand prize packages which includes $15,000 cash for the family, a $30,000 cafeteria makeover for their child's school and a hometown celebration.
