BOSTON, June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Swirl Networks, Inc., the leading in-store digital marketing technology provider, announced today that it has added three retail, media and technology veterans to support its next phase of growth and meet the increasingly sophisticated digital marketing needs of its customers. Dan Dmochowski has been appointed as the company's Chief Revenue Officer. Dmochowski previously held executive leadership positions at ShopRunner, BlackHawk Network and Catalina Marketing. In addition, Mark Marinacci, a media industry executive with nearly 20 years of experience at leading publishers including Google, Yahoo and Gannett, has been hired as Vice President, Audience Development. The Company also added Niall Fitzpatrick, a seasoned professional services, operations and customer support leader from Endeca, Acquia and a number of other high-growth technology companies, as Vice President, Account Management.
Swirl is expanding its executive team to support current and future business growth following the recent release of its Mobile Presence Management and Marketing Platform – the retail industry's first complete solution for managing and leveraging digital location signals (GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth beacons) in and around physical stores. Swirl's platform allows retailers to originate an entirely new set of offline customer behavioral data and act on that data with specialized marketing tools to drive greater customer engagement, sales and marketing efficiency.
"Retail marketing is at a turning point as traditional retailers accelerate their digital marketing initiatives to keep up with changing consumer behaviors and compete more effectively against e-commerce giants like Amazon," said Swirl CEO, Hilmi Ozguc. "Dan, Mark and Niall join us at a time when our business is rapidly growing and major retailers are looking to take advantage of new data and technology to deliver more effective and increasingly personalized mobile customer experiences. The extensive experience that these executives have in bringing groundbreaking new products and services to market, coupled with the specialized knowledge Swirl has developed in helping retailers deploy mobile presence capabilities, will allow us to more rapidly scale our business and support our customers."
Dan Dmochowski, Chief Revenue Officer, brings a proven track record in driving growth by introducing innovative technologies and services to major retailers. Dmochowski joins Swirl from Alibaba-backed ShopRunner, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer for the membership-based online shopping service. While at ShopRunner, the company expanded rapidly and built a network of over 150 participating retailers. Previously, Dmochowski pioneered the introduction of prepaid gift cards to grocery, big box, convenience, and pharmacy retailers as one of the founders of Blackhawk Network. During his tenure there, Blackhawk expanded throughout the United States and then to over 20 countries around the world. Dmochowski served in a variety of executive roles at Blackhawk including SVP of Worldwide Sales and President of International. Earlier in his career, Dmochowski held executive roles with Catalina Marketing and DCI Cardmarketing, where he was instrumental in introducing loyalty marketing programs to the grocery industry.
"I'm excited to join Swirl as the company leads the way in enabling retailers to transform their physical stores into a powerful digital marketing asset," said Dmochowski. " Mobile presence marketing is fast becoming a must-have retail capability. Swirl has the people, product and expertise to lead this transformation and I'm thrilled to be part of the team."
Mark Marinacci joins Swirl as Vice President of Audience Development, where he manages partnerships with leading mobile app publishers and audience owners, bringing large-scale reach to Swirl's retail clients. Marinacci's deep expertise across all facets of digital media and local advertising comes from working with retailers, brands and agencies as an executive at Google, Yahoo, Gannett and a number of media and marketing tech startups. Most recently, Marinacci served as Chief Category Officer for Cofactor, a digital division of Gannett that enables retailers and brand advertisers to drive offline sales through the use of highly-versioned local advertising content across any digital channel. Cofactor's technology platform is used by leading retailers, including Staples, Toys "R" Us, The Home Depot and Kohl's.
Niall Fitzpatrick, in his role as Vice President of Account Management, leads the team responsible for customer onboarding and support as well as the codification of best practices and processes to ensure mobile presence program success for Swirl customers. Fitzpatrick brings a wealth of experience in building, leading and scaling customer success teams for a number of high-growth software and services companies including Endeca and Acquia. Fitzpatrick comes to Swirl from Blink Reaction (now part of FFW, one of the largest Drupal development agencies in the world) where he was Chief Operating Officer.
