Sutter Home Searches For The Best Burger In America; One Lucky Person Will Win $100,000
7 Days Left to Enter Sutter Home Build a Better Burger® Recipe Contest
ST. HELENA, Calif., Aug. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- With only seven days left for entries, Sutter Home Family Vineyards searches the country for the best burger in America, part of its annual Sutter Home Build a Better Burger® Recipe Contest. The contest kicked off on April 1, 2013 and runs through September 2, 2013. People can enter online and by mail; see details at http://www.sutterhome.com. Since "Build a Better Burger" began in 1990, the contest has inspired home chefs to dream up and submit highly creative burger recipes packed with flavor. On May 17, 2014, Sutter Home will award $100,000 as a grand prize to the most delicious beef burger winner, $15,000 for the best alternative burger, $2,500 for the People's Choice within each category, $500 for the first runner-up for both best beef and best alternative burgers as well as $250 for the second runner-up for both best beef and best alternative burgers.
"Sutter Home Build a Better Burger® Recipe Contest inspires casual cooks to dream up original burger recipes at home," said Wendy Nyberg, vice president of marketing at Sutter Home. "In past years, we have been blown away by all of the delicious submissions and look forward to tasting the innovative burgers this year."
These burgers will ultimately be judged on creativity, taste and visual appeal. After reviewing all the recipes, Sutter Home will select 10 lucky people as "Cook-Off Finalists" in early January, 2014. The finalists will receive an all-expense paid trip to Napa for four days for the Cook-Off. At the event, the finalists will prepare their recipes and the burgers will be tasted and scored by a panel of judges comprised of notable chefs and culinary professionals who will decide the ultimate winners.
Last year's grand prizewinner, Erin Evenson from Brooklyn, New York, won $100,000 for her creation of a 7 Train Caramelized Green Curry Burger with crispy watercress salad, roasted cashews and minted basil aioli.
