Survey Reveals Most People Purchase Valentine's Gifts for "Multiple Loves" Around Valentine's Day
Serena Norr, Managing Editor of Mom Trends, Provides Quick, Creative Gift Ideas
BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Significant others won't be the only ones feeling the love this Valentine's Day. According to a recent survey, the national day of love now extends way beyond that one special person. In fact, 44% of people surveyed by Rich Products, a leading provider to foodservice, in-store bakery and retail marketplaces, revealed that most people do in fact have multiple "loves" in their lives.

According to the survey results, when asked to identify their "other loves," friends topped the list; and surprisingly, among the favorite gifts to give were fresh baked goods ranging from cookies, cupcakes and other sweet treats.
To encourage this thoughtfulness year-round, Rich's launched "Bakery Because. Give the Gift of Deliciousness," a gifting initiative that encourages people to show their appreciation to all the special people in their lives on February 14th and anytime throughout the year, on any "Just Because" occasion.
Serena Norr, mom of two and managing editor of MomTrends, offers a few simple gift ideas to celebrate everyone on your list. "The beauty of Valentine's Day is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to show that you care. Using what you have, there are so many easy and creative ways to show your appreciation," says Norr.
Here are three simple, low-cost gift ideas:
- Create a food basket with your favorite sweets: Prepare some sweets for your sweetie using an assortment of baked goods and other specialty items from your local grocery store. Not only is this an affordable way to show that you care, but you can personalize it by packaging your sweeties' favorite brownies, cookies, cupcakes, coffee, teas and jams in a basket with a personalized note.
- Personalized Packaging: Instead of using wrapping paper this Valentine's Day, why not use something unique? A simple brown lunch bag can be personalized, decorated and filled with baked goods and small presents like pencils and stickers. Remember those CD sleeves that you have lying around the house? Our friends at the blog Doodle Craft came up with a decorative envelope idea that can be used to package a delicious cookie – just add a doily and some ribbon. The beauty of the DIY goodie bag is that you can truly make it personal without spending a lot of money
- Share love notes: Another way to show that you care without breaking the bank is by writing a handful of love notes and placing them in a mason jar or fun, decorative glassware. For an extra special touch, decorate the jar or glass with glitter and ribbon or put a Valentine's Day cookie or cupcake inside. These sweet notes (and sweet treat) will mean so much to the recipient.
