Sunbelt Gives $25,000 to Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer
After more than 21,000 people 'liked' Sunbelt Snacks on Facebook during October, company gives $25,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn., Nov. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Breast Cancer Awareness Month is over, the clicks are in, and the "likes" have been tallied: More than 21,000 people helped make Sunbelt's Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraising effort on Facebook a tremendous success.
Sunbelt pledged to give $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF) for every new person that liked Sunbelt Snacks on Facebook during the month of October. As a result of over 21,000 people clicking "Like" on Sunbelt's Facebook page, the Chattanooga-based company is providing NBCF with a check for $25,000.
That money will increase breast cancer awareness through educational programs and provide free mammograms for those in need.
"My sister is a breast cancer survivor, and I know firsthand the importance of early detection," said Sunbelt Brand Manager Jeff Badger. "The NBCF is doing wonderful work, so Sunbelt is pleased to give the foundation $25,000 to support its mission."
While Sunbelt has been committed to raising awareness for breast cancer through its support of Susan G. Komen affiliates across the country for years, this is the first year it has partnered with NBCF to raise funds.
"At Sunbelt, we are committed to putting an end to breast cancer," said Badger. "But for that to become a reality, we have to work together. That's why we support the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure."
"Sunbelt's $25,000 contribution to NBCF will make a huge impact on our mission to save lives," says NBCF Founder and CEO Janelle Hail. "Breast cancer mortality and incidence rates have steadily decreased over the last decade, and I believe we can attribute that to the support of companies and individuals like Sunbelt Snacks and their supporters. Their support really does make a difference in the fight against breast cancer!"
