SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Basket, a leading meal kit service delivering organic and sustainable ingredients with delicious, easy recipes weekly to your door, today announced the introduction of new premium protein options. Now, customers can swap in organic, grass-fed, grass-finished filet mignon and New York strip steak, as well as wild-caught halibut and jumbo shrimp, in lieu of the existing beef and salmon options on select recipes in its weekly menus, building on its vision of a personal choice platform to fit any consumer's lifestyle.
With choice at its core, Sun Basket's meals are adaptive enough to fit any lifestyle and diet, which is why these new premium protein selections are the perfect way to customize your recipes from any menu, from Classic to Family and Lean & Clean. Sourced from trusted suppliers, Sun Basket's new protein options turn any night into a special occasion, such as a cozy home-cooked date night, or easy entertaining by doubling up on recipes. With menus created and curated by Executive Chef and Co-Founder, Justine Kelly, each recipe is also reviewed by the company's in-house nutritionist to ensure consumers are receiving well-balanced meals that both nourish and satisfy.
"Today's consumers are all about choices, and that's exactly what our continued menu expansions aim to provide," said Adam Zbar, CEO and Co-Founder of Sun Basket. "As a leading meal kit delivery service, we remain committed to building a healthy personal choice platform for our customers by listening to their requests, and premium protein offerings has been one of our most requested options. We truly value what our consumers want and after dedicated research and conversations with our chef as well as our suppliers, we decided to introduce this as a weekly option to our customers."
Beyond the additional menu options, consumers will also notice a different look outside and inside their weekly boxes, as the brand recently partnered with Sealed Air to reduce carton dimensions of its boxes by almost 25 percent. Sun Basket's advanced insulation packaging uses both post-consumer and post-industrial newsprint, which is 100 percent curbside recyclable. The brand's smaller packaging also enables trucks to carry over 30 percent more boxes per shipment than before, further reducing the brand's carbon footprint.
"Sustainability has always been one of our core values, which is why we are continually looking at ways to ensure our company takes the most responsible approach to things like distribution and packaging," said Michael Golub, Head of Strategic Initiatives at Sun Basket. "We take pride in proactively working with suppliers as new solutions are being developed, and after learning about Sealed Air's 100 percent recyclable paper insulation, we made the decision to transition our packaging, making us the first in the meal kit business to use this kind of insulation. We couldn't be more excited to incorporate Sealed Air's products as it is innovations like these that allow us to continue reducing our overall carbon footprint."
To help guide consumers in understanding all the ways to customize and enjoy the freedom of flexibility with their Sun Basket menus, Sun Basket recently launched "More Ways to Sun Basket" a dedicated page on its website which includes the following options:
