SUCCESS Partners with Coach John Wooden's Family to Launch Digital Learning Course That Focuses on his Pyramid of Success
For the first time ever, the public will be given a unique opportunity to learn Wooden's teachings, philosophies, and the basic principles of The Pyramid of Success
DALLAS, Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SUCCESS magazine has partnered with the John Wooden family, in a deal negotiated by IMG, for an unprecedented digital learning course based on the lasting lessons of one of the most successful basketball coaches in NCAA history. Wooden's Pyramid of Success, an iconic diagram that lists the essential traits to be successful, has been called, among other things, "a game plan for life." The digital learning course and accompanying documentary will be powered by SUCCESS's newest media division, SUCCESS Academy, in conjunction with the John Wooden Legacy, LLC.
Wooden's teachings embody the kind of personal development that SUCCESS strives to deliver in its magazine, website and podcasts. That's why SUCCESS is sharing Wooden's teachings with a whole new audience of success-seekers in this 10-module course, Coach John Wooden's Pyramid of Success, which will launch Nov. 15, 2016. These lessons in resourcefulness, honesty, loyalty and poise have served as inspiration for countless change-makers and thought leaders from Dr. Mehmet Oz, Beau Bridges, John Maxwell to Bill Walton. To show the scale of Wooden's influence on high achievers and his impact on the world's thought leaders, SUCCESS magazine assembled a roster of those that have been influenced in business, entertainment, coaching, and athletics by Coach Wooden's teachings. In what they are calling The Wooden Effect, the infographic appears in the upcoming December issue of SUCCESS and will soon be live on SUCCESS.com.
"Coach John Wooden was a mentor, an inspiration, a role model and a true servant leader to thousands of people. When SUCCESS approached the John Wooden family about bringing Coach's teachings to a new generation of achievers, I guaranteed thoughtful consideration that anything we created with Coach's name would be well planned and executed at the highest level possible. A man of Coach's caliber deserves that and I feel honored to have the opportunity to work with the Wooden family to share his teachings with our audience."
– Stuart Johnson, CEO of SUCCESS
For the first time in history, SUCCESS and the Wooden family are giving the public a unique opportunity to know Coach Wooden as his family and students knew him, through many dozens of exclusive interviews and rarely before-seen archival footage and insights shared with us. The course will be hosted by sports journalist and New York Times best-selling author, Don Yaeger, who was personally mentored by the coach and co-wrote with Wooden his tenth and final book before his passing in 2010 at age 99. In his new book, Great Teams: 16 Things High Performing Organizations Do Differently, Yaeger takes what he has learned from great teams, including Coach Wooden's philosophies, to share the formula it takes to build one.
SUCCESS will also continue to share the life lessons from Coach Wooden on success, teambuilding, and leadership on the newly launched site, thewoodeneffect.com, an online destination to share Wooden's fundamentals through articles, videos, motivational quotes by Wooden and more.
