Stryker Mobility Zone Closes In On Second Half Of 2015 Schedule; Heads To Encompass Championship
MAHWAH, N.J., July 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Stryker Orthopaedics, the Official Joint Replacement Products of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour, will be kicking off the second half of their 2015 schedule at Encompass Championship in Glenview, IL. This tournament marks the sixth stop this year for the "Stryker Mobility Zone" – a destination designed to educate golf fans on the importance of joint health.
Over the past sixth months, Stryker has focused its efforts on enhancing the golf fan experience with interactive initiatives, while simultaneously educating tournament goers on the importance of joint health. In its second annual appearance at Encompass Championship, the Stryker Mobility Zone will showcase those efforts by welcoming fans onsite with the Stryker Health Walk. The walk takes place throughout the course and highlights 7-10 unique health facts and tips for fans to follow as they watch their favorite golfers. To complement the Stryker Health Walk, the company will be giving away free pedometers at the Stryker Mobility Zone so fans can track their steps.
Additionally, while onsite, Stryker will introduce fans to the Mako System, a robotic-arm assisted technology that is changing the way joint replacement is performed. The Mako System will be on display at the Stryker Mobility Zone throughout the weekend alongside the following features:
- Interactive photo booth for fans to share highlights of their tournament experience on social media
- Pedometer giveaway for fans to track their steps and mobility throughout the course
- Stryker hats for sale to benefit Fisher House Foundation in support of our military
- On-site local orthopedic surgeons to provide fans with joint health assessments and additional education on Stryker products
- Meet and greet opportunity with Champions Tour golfer Fred Funk
"As we head into the second half of this season, I appreciate having Stryker at many of the tournaments I've participated in this year," said brand ambassador and Champions Tour golfer, Fred Funk. "The Stryker Mobility Zone is great motivation for me. I know my fans will be there to show their support, and learn about my story of undergoing total knee replacement."
Funk, a Stryker brand ambassador since 2011, is one of the most recognizable names and personalities in professional golf. During his career, which spans more than 20 years, Funk has won eight titles on the PGATOUR, including THE PLAYERS Championship 2005, and six titles on the Champions Tour, including the 2009 U.S. Senior Open. Funk underwent total knee replacement in November 2009 and received Stryker's GetAroundKnee. He won the 2010 JELD-WEN Tradition the following season, becoming the first player ever to win a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event after total knee replacement surgery.
