DALLAS, Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Stream Data Centers announced the groundbreaking of its new state-of-the-art data center development in Richardson, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. The Stream Private Data Center (PDC) will be a new, ground-up development totaling 72,500 square feet. The data center will deliver 3.375 MW of critical power with the ability to easily expand the critical load to 6.75 MW with all necessary conduit and pads in place. The raised-floor area will be divided into three independent 10,000-square-foot private data halls. Stream will utilize its standard 2N electrical / N+1 mechanical configuration and provide dual feed power from two separate substations. Additionally, the carrier-neutral facility will include redundant telecommunication rooms serving each data hall and access to multiple providers.
"We are excited to break ground on our new Private Data Center in Richardson," stated Robert Kennedy, co-managing director of Stream Data Centers. "This will be the first ground-up, purpose-built wholesale data center in North Texas."
The Richardson data center, located at Renner Road and Wyndham Lane, will be Stream's second data center development in that community in the last 12 months. Stream chose Richardson for its continued expansion because of its robust power and fiber infrastructure. Richardson's proven infrastructure has attracted major data center operations and critical facilities for companies such as Texas Instruments, Bank of America, Capital One, AT&T, Verizon, Cisco Systems and Fujitsu.
The new facility will be fully commissioned and ready for occupancy in May 2012.
